Headlines and other SEO facts that you need to know

H1, H2, H3 Tags

These are invisible tags in the source code, which give certain text its formatting. In this case H stands for "header" or rather "headline". The header tag looks like this

Here is my headline

Personally I would rather use these as put the headline into an image. This is done a lot, but my advice is to use the h1 tag, if possible, because there is so much keyword weight on this tag.

H = Headlines

These tags are numbered in sequence of their importance and size. H1 being the largest font size and for the search engine everything that stands there as text presents quite a lot of weight. Then follows the H2 etc. Usually the first headline is fairly short, similar to headlines in the newspaper. And this is where you place your most important keywords. Don't worry about looks. You can format these tags with the font tag, which you just place in between:

Here is my headline

Search engines give these tags high relevance. But don't overdo it. Just one H1 and one H2 tag is fine. Both of them slightly different, h2 could be a little longer, a slightly different wording but the same keywords. It's like a subtitle.

Dogdancing – a new Sport for Dogs

SEO Tools can help you to generate the H1 tags and html codes.

An actual tag from one of my optimization projects. This website made it to page 1 on Google for "dogdancing" and is still there at time of writing, for rockndog.de.

So - how to optimize a website is no secret. It's just knowing how search engine spiders crawl your page. And how to place keywords to their best advantage in order to reach our goal – to be on page 1 of the search results for the keyword that is important to you. Or better still, the keyword visitors to the search engine enter, to find your type of page, products and services.

If you are interested to learn more about the h1 tags and the Search Engine Optimization tips and tricks that are available to the public you could make a search on Google and you will find plenty of them. You just want to be careful when comes to taking advices because there might be people that only talk, without actually knowing stuff about what they are saying. Use authorithy sources like searchengineland or even Google Guidelines to become an authority yourself on SEO.
